Our Patreon just launched to support the Final Gravity beer zine, a new quarterly print beer publication telling personal, immersive stories from the world of craft beer!
Why a Patreon?
Our editors—David Nilsen and Melinda Guerra—are funding the zine out of pocket, and we can use your support to help pay our writers and artists and underwrite production costs for the zine. This is an old school, staple-bound, 8.5” x 5.5” paper zine produced in the proud DIY zine-making tradition. Despite this grassroots approach, Final Gravity will feature paid writing and artwork, professional editing, clean and attractive formatting, and good production quality. That costs money, and your support will keep this project sustainable and allow us to appropriately compensate our creators.
Note: About 90% of our operational costs go to paying our writers and artists. That’s what your money is mostly going to.
There are four tier options for supporting us on Patreon:
Supporter - $3/month
This is the easiest and cheapest way to support us on Patreon. We know there are a lot of places your money can go, and we appreciate every dollar our fans can spare to support independent beer writing.
For $3 per month, you'll get full access to our exclusive patreon content, including (but not limited to) behind-the-scenes posts about producing a zine, b-roll photos and excerpts from our articles and interviews, videos, short articles about our lives in beer, and photos of our cat. Again: photos of our cat. This alone is worth $3 a month.
As a special thank you for supporting us, we'll also send you a pack of four 4x6 postcards and prints featuring professional beer photography from David Nilsen. We'll send these to you right away when you begin supporting us!

Subscriber - $6/month
This is our bread-and-butter tier that will truly make the Final Gravity zine sustainable.
In addition to the perks offered in the Supporter tier, Subscribers receive a print subscription to Final Gravity! Each quarter (four times a year), we'll send you the new issue of Final Gravity for as long as you maintain this level of support. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Zinester - $10/month
We are so, so grateful you believe in what we're doing.
In addition to the benefits in the Supporter and Subscriber levels, Zinesters (yep, it's a word) will receive a copy of our existing Bean to Barstool zines (Pairing Beer and Chocolate and The Bean to Barstool Guide to Bocks), as well as a copy of each future standalone zine we create while you're a supporter.
The Bock zine will be sent right away, and the Pairing zine will be sent after your second month of support at this tier. If you already own one of both of these zines (first of all, thank you!), we will send you additional beer prints and cards. Let us know right away if this is the case.

If you're an individual supporting us at this level, we'll give you a shout out in the next issue of Final Gravity (the first to release after your support begins), as well as in the next episode of the Bean to Barstool podcast, and on the permanent Final Gravity page on the Bean to Barstool site. If you're a brewery or related business supporting us at this level, you'll get free advertising! Each quarter you support us at this level you'll receive a 1/2 page ad in the next issue of Final Gravity. We'll also give you a shoutout on the Bean to Barstool podcast, and mention you across our social media platforms. If you have specific advertising or partnership suggestions outside these avenues, get in touch. We'll figure something out.
(*Note: The right to be advertised or promoted by Final Gravity or Bean to Barstool is dependent upon your brewery or business maintaining a reputation for equitable and ethical behavior towards individuals of all identities. If you need to ask what that means, that's...troubling. If we are aware your business has been credibly accused of bad behavior, we cannot in good conscience endorse your business on our pages.
