PREORDER Final Gravity, A Beer Zine Issue 07

$11.00

Issue 07 of Final Gravity, a print beer magazine that shares immersive and personal stories from the world of beer, is now available for preorder with free shipping. This issue officially releases January 21, 2025.

More images of this issue will be added soon.

Rather than a typical glossy beer mag, Final Gravity is an old school stapled zine, but with paid writing and art. It tells the stories that don’t often make it into the pages of beer magazines, the stories that together weave the fabric of the collective beer experience.

In this issue, Ale Sharpton interviews Doug Reiser of Burial Beer about the brewery’s stunning artwork, how they come up with beer names, and how the Asheville community is recovering from Hurricane Helene. This article is printed on matte photo paper to highlight the eye-catching label art.

Stasia Brewczynski writes about who time in Franconia, the unique community that has developed at Schlenkerla in Bamberg, and how a vice—smoking—has led to an all-weather gathering of smoked beer lovers.

Megan Ulu-Lani Boyanton highlights Indigenous-owned breweries in the United States, and the unique opportunities and challenges they face.

Here’s the complete list of stories in this issue:

  1. Burial Beer’s Dark Visions of Hope by Ale Sharpton

  2. Smoke & Supplication at Schlenkerla by Stasia Brewczynski

  3. Native-owned Breweries Keep Culture at the Heart of Beer by Megan Ulu-Lani Boyanton

  4. Invisible Strings at Tepache Sazon by Shayna Conde

  5. 60 Years of the Swiss Beer Cartel by Sandro Wirth

  6. Philly’s 18th Century Dive Bars by Brian Alberts

  7. Resurrecting Extinct Beer Styles at Archival Brewing by Matt Dursum

  8. Brewing at the Birthplace of St. Benedict by David Nilsen

  9. Artist Showcase: Lykke Dalum

For each issue of Final Gravity, we select a non-profit working in or around the beer and hospitality industries to support financially. This issue’s beneficiary is Safe Bars, an organization that helps alcohol-serving spaces create safe, welcoming, and respectful environments for their patrons and staff.

We believe passionately in the Final Gravity project, in the importance of independent print media, and in the DIY tradition of zine publishing. We hope you’ll enjoy this issue of Final Gravity.

This zine is 8.5” x 5.5”, 54 full-color pages, and staple-bound. Despite being a grassroots, DIY zine, it features paid writing and artwork and professional-quality editing.
