The Bean to Barstool Guide to Bocks Zine

$9.00

This 24-page, full-color stapled zine by Advanced Cicerone David Nilsen explores the world of Bock beer styles. The zine looks at the history of Bock, then highlights each major Bock style, looking at flavor profile, history, ingredients and processes, commercial examples, and quantitative judging parameters for both BJCP and Brewers Association descriptions. Pairing guidance is given for cheese, chocolate, desserts, and main dishes.

The highlight of the zine is an exclusive 8-page interview with Mari and Will Kemper of Chuckanut Brewery conducted in January 2023. Chuckanut is one of the best lager breweries in the country, and brews both a Dunkles Bock, Maibock, and Doppelbock. This interview has not been (and will not be) published anywhere besides this zine, so this is the only place to hear one of the best lager brewers in the country break down what it takes to brew good (and bad) Bocks.

David is a member of the North American Guild of Beer Writers and the host of the Bean to Barstool beer and chocolate podcast.

Orders will be shipped within three business days unless otherwise specified (expected delays due to travel or holidays will be posted on the shop homepage). All orders ship USPS First Class or Media Mail, depending on weight, unless Priority Mail is selected.
